St John's Tavern: An Interview with Nick Sharpe

I had the good fortune today, Saturday 29th January 2011, to interview Nick Sharpe who is the licensee of St John's Tavern, Archway, London, N.9. I say the good fortune because I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Nick talk about what is clearly his passion, managing a British Pub. The purpose of the interview was really as a pilot for my ideas in developing the marketing of The Pub History Society of which I am a member. I was particularly interested in the architectural renovation Nick and his business partner had undertaken to restore the building to its Victorian splendour.

The video on show here has really been slapped together because I only left the studio at 09.00hrs this morning to meet Nick at 11.00hrs and gather the interview. Besides other tasks and agendas I have managed to knock this up so that it can be demonstrated at the Pub History Society Conference at the Public Records Office, Kew, in February. I will be in Japan at the time, see my Japanease blog for details of the journey and its inevitable adventures, and as I leave for parts eastern within the next 24 hours there was precious little time to do a really proper job on this work.

  1. Je ne suis jamais allé dans un pub avec une aussi bonne nourriture et des boissons auparavant. L'atmosphère est toujours électrique avec de la musique live et des tournois de billard qui favorisent la socialisation entre les clients.
